Donna
Williams, Columbia, Missouri
I was born and raised in a big city where pets were not allowed, but that did not stop my desire to have 'my own' pet. Sneaking a pigeon into my bedroom didn’t last long because my mother didn’t like pigeon poop on the floor.
An affectionate cat that I hid in my room started
crying loudly. I thought she really liked me, but it was her
boyfriend she was calling for. My mother promptly sent the cat out
the door.
Success was finally attained when I discovered a lost
parakeet. He came to me because he was hungry and I had bread in my hand.
Cradling the little bird, I ran home, being bit all the way. I was
allowed to keep “my bird” and he was a joy to all the family for
many years.
Raising three children we had many creatures in our
home: hamsters, fish, birds, reptiles, pony, cows,
chickens, dogs and cats. The kids are all grown up with
families of their own, but my husband and I are blessed
with one dog, two cats, plus one foster dog from Second
Chance. I am thrilled to offer my
passion for animals as a service for those who love their pets.
